This Weekend….

There’s a lot going on in the art world this weekend…..

Friday: The Coral Gables Cultural Center of Spain presents a new exhibition titled, Art Encounters: Interstices between Literature, Cinema and Graphic Design. It deals with the way film and literature is interpreted by graphic design and the different ways in which this kind of art negotiates its place in the culture. Curated by Janet Batet featuring works by, René Azcuy, Alejandro Magallanes, Alfredo Rostgard, Carlos Palleiro, Fernando Pimiento, Julián Naranjo, Minerva Ruiz Corte, Francisco Aguilar Galvez, and Renato Aranda Rodríguez. Saturday:

The Reach of Realism exhibition at the North Miami Museum of Contemporary Art may be coming down later this month, so don’t miss this unique chance for a guided tour of the show by associate curator Ruba Katrib. Tour starts at 2 p.m.

Also be sure to pop on down the Fredric Snitzer Gallery where a silent auction will be held from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. to benefit relief efforts in Haiti. There will be work up for auction by artists like, Hernan Bas, Timothy Buwalda, Loriel Beltran, COOPER, Jacin Giordano, Cristina Lei Rodriguez, and more.

Photographer and member of electroclash group Chicks of Speed, A.L. Steiner, gives a lecture at the Bas Fisher Invitational in the Design District. Lecture starts at 4:30 p.m.
