WXPN’s Key Studio Sessions meets Blayer Pointdujour

By Bruce Warren, WXPN

For the second video profile and recording session for WXPN’s Key Studio Sessions, we profiled Blayer Pointdujour and The Rockers Galore. Pointdujour is a musician with roots in Hatian kompa music, reggae, punk and hip-hop and he has been a longtime side player in Philadelphia acts like Miss Argentina and Phil Moore Brown. Blayer recently released his Port Au Prince EP on the local Philebrity Label founded by local web site Philebrity.com.

In September Blayer brought an eight piece band in to the WXPN recording studios to record four songs and was interviewed for our video profile that you can watch here or above. The session was loads of fun to record as Blayer’s band included two trumpeters, a percussionist, drummer, bassist, keyboard player and singer Tallea Bella. Pointdujour’s songs excellently capture his various musical influences and he’s got a unique musical vision from blending those influences so well together.

All four songs, including the rhythmic island funk of “Mansion Party,” and the reggae influenced “Iron Dread” can be downloaded here.
