Celebrating a new home for Carolina Actors Studio Theatre

It’s moving day for Carolina Actors Studio Theatre (CAST). The troupe is debuting its new home in the NoDa building on June 16. Funded in part by Knight Foundation, the move is allowing the troupe to say goodbye to the leaky roof, limited parking and limited signage at its former space on Clement Ave. The Charlotte Observer reported on the move this week, calling CAST’s former home “purgatory” and its new space “paradise.” Click here to read the full article and below for an excerpt.

Paradise has exposed heating pipes, a wall full of mirrors for self-examination, indirect lighting from high square windows, a 22-foot ceiling, half a glitter ball dangling from a rafter and one piece of non-functional equipment: a tiny gray plastic astronaut that looks like a 1950s Robby the Robot, symbol of a leap into the future.
