Get ready for the “Florida Flash”
reading and book launch

The team at Tigertail have a literary gift for you. The ninth edition of “Tigertail, A South Florida Annual: Florida Flash,” edited by author and distinguished FIU creative writing professor Lynne Barrett, is set to be releasedMonday, Oct. 17, 2011 at Books & Books in Coral Gables.

This year’s annual contains work by 54 authors, such as Emma Trelles, Campbell McGrath, Molly McGreevy and Peter Meinke, who have created prose poetry, flash fiction and flash nonfiction in 305 words or less. These works are short yet explosive micro-stories that often reveal just as much between the lines as a full-length short story would.

Like previous annuals, this year’s collection represents work by authors heavily influenced by their experience living in South Florida. Barrett writes, “The ninth edition of Tigertail’s annual publication moves into prose to explore the edges and overlaps between lyrical and narrative approaches … representing the original South Florida area code, as well as the limits of a single page — and the result is an exuberant collection that captures both scintillant moments and the faceted turnings of memory.”

Many of the annual’s 54 authors will participate in the reading and book launch at Books & Books. The cover of the book is by Miami visual artist Brian Reedy. For more information on Barrett, visit http://www.lynnebarrett.com/.
