The Institute for Rural Journalism and Community Issues, housed in the School of Journalism and Telecommunications at University of Kentucky, was started in 2002 to improve the journalism reaching the 56 million people in the rural United States. This grant will help increase the Institute’s impact by completing a national survey of rural media to gauge their scope and training needs, improving its web site, www.ruraljournalism.org, and creating a journalism training module for News University.
