To promote imaginative thinking among school children through a curriculum-based art program
IDEA@theBass aims to promote imaginative thinking among early elementary school children through a curriculum-based art program. Developed by the Bass Museum of Art in conjunction with Stanford University’s acclaimed d.school (Institute of Design), IDEA fuses art with Design Thinking, a creative process focused on building ideas by withholding judgments (i.e., there is no right or wrong). This method of problem-solving eliminates fear of failure and encourages brainstorming and prototyping. Miami-Dade teachers, who will be trained at the museum, will employ the curriculum at school and then invite students to the Bass’ Free Family Sundays where there will be coordinated activities.
