MIAMI, Fla., - Jonathan Sotsky has joined the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation as Strategic Assessment Officer.
Sotsky will help strengthen Knight Foundation’s ability to use evaluation as a tool for learning, planning and improvement.
Prior to joining Knight Foundation, Sotsky worked as a consultant at Mission Measurement, a Chicago-based social sector consultancy. There he helped foundations, corporations and nonprofits measure and communicate the impact of their social initiaitves. Before that, he was a financial management consultant with IBM.
“At Knight, we and our partners work on a range of complex issues to do with information systems and community change. Assessment provides us with feedback to learn collectively what’s working and what’s not as we adapt and set strategy,” said Mayur Patel, director of strategic assessment and assistant to the president. “Jonathan’s experience in understanding and assessing social impact will strengthen the work of our grantees, and of Knight Foundation to foster informed and engaged communities”
Sotsky graduated magna cum laude from Cornell University with a bachelor’s in applied economics and management.
"I'm excited to join Knight Foundation and advance its mission by analyzing the effectiveness of its work,” Sotsky said. “I look forward to developing and enacting approaches to assessment that will inform and improve the impact of Knight Foundation and its peers in the social sector."
