Danceable Action Conversations Workshop & Premiere of ‘un-quiet/body’

On Thursday, January 31st from 7-8:30 p.m. at Inkub8, Victoria Marks will lead a workshop for dancers and choreographers. The workshop will facilitate a more connected and fluid conversation between intention and movement, thought and action, through a combination of moving, talking and moving together exercises.

Victoria Marks writes: “In the past, I have used Action Conversations to build relationship between military veterans and dancers in Los Angeles and between at-risk teens and older women from rural Vermont. In Miami, we will stage some of our own Action Conversations. I look forward to sharing some of the strategies I have used in the past with workshop participants.”

Marks is known as an intuitive and fiercely intelligent choreographer and filmmaker whose work ethic is rigorous and laser sharp—and her work on stage reflects this intensity. Gary Lund of Tigertail Productions writes: “I have known Victoria since she was in New York City and I can, without hesitation, tell you that her work as a choreographer and a filmmaker is intelligent, researched, involving and ultimately of the highest artistic standard.”

On Feb. 1-2, a “danceAble” concert event will feature the premiere for ‘unquiet-body,’ featuring choreography by Heather Maloney with two incredibly intense and able performers—Joanne Barrett and John Beauregard.
