By Val Renner, Akron Civic Theatre

The month of February was extremely busy. The Festival of Nations 2012 was a top family pleaser. This was the third year for this event and it include performances by The German Family Society Tanzgruppe Dancers, Pura Salsa, The Cleveland Contemporary Chinese Cultural Association Performance Troupe, The St. Nicholas Russian Youth Dancers, The Gracanica Folklore Group, and African Soul International. A special appearance by the Celtic Eagle Pipe Band will open the ceremonies. A wide array of interactive activities including learning Chinese calligraphy, the art of making Japanese tea and learning to dance the traditional dances of India, educational booths and international foods are also part of the celebration.

“This year is our third year to offer this amazing cultural experience to the public. It is growing by leaps and bounds and families seem to love the experience of exposing their children to the many diverse cultures that inhabit Northeast Ohio. Dancing, food and interactives are all a part of this exciting event.” said The Civic’s executive director, Howard Parr.
