2012 was a banner year for arts in Detroit. In October, Knight Foundation announced it will donate nearly $20 million to arts in Detroit, including a $9 million Knight Art Challenge Detroit. Locals responded – Detroit Free Press readers have selected the grant announcement as one of the top 10 arts stories of 2012.
