Meet the sixteen cohort members selected to participate in “Building the Capacity to Innovate and Adapt.”
ABOUT THE CALL
Knight Foundation is offering a new opportunity for Philadelphia-based arts organizations to participate in a workshop series focused on capacity-building for innovation. The four-month series, Building the Capacity to Innovate and Adapt, will be designed and facilitated by EmcArts, which hosts national leadership development programs for change-makers in the arts and cultural sector. Arts organizations in greater Philadelphia, regardless of size or artistic genre, are encouraged to apply.
Through this training, cohort members will strengthen their organization’s ability to think adaptively about their missions and operations; to proactively identify and address complex challenges, including challenges to innovation; and to envision and experiment with new ways of working. Each participating organization will receive $10,000 in support.
You can apply here.
WHO SHOULD APPLY?
Arts organizations in greater Philadelphia, regardless of size or artistic genre, are encouraged to apply.
APPLICATION PROCESS AND SCHEDULE
The application period is open from Tuesday, August 20 through Wednesday, September 11.
Each application will be reviewed by Knight Foundation staff in consultation with EmcArts. Cohort participants will be announced in early October 2019.
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP SERIES
The EmcArts program is a series of six half-day workshops. Approximately 15 organizations will be selected to participate, and each organization must commit a team of three to five people — including executive and artistic staff, as well as board leadership — to consistently participate in all six workshops. Artists, volunteers and other community stakeholders may also serve as members of an organization’s team. The workshop series will take place in Philadelphia over four months, October 2019 – January 2020, and participating teams are expected to lead work inside their organization between sessions. All interested organizations must secure an available and consistent team for the following workshop dates:
Workshops 1+2: October 22nd and 23rd, 2019
Workshops 3+4: November 19th and 20th, 2019
Workshops 5+6: January 14th and 15th, 2020
