About

Annie Kim joined Knight Foundation’s internship program in June 2019. She works with Paul Cheung, director of journalism and technology innovation.

Kim is a student at Columbia University, where she is studying information science and art history. A former digital video intern at PBS’s NOVA, Kim has experience highlighting technology in current events and is passionate about the intersection of technology, society and democracy.

At Columbia, Kim is the director of The Roosevelt Institute’s Technology Center think tank, through which she is organizing an initiative to create a society and ethics requirement for computer science students. She also leads Artists Reaching Out, a community impact group focused on bringing arts education to under-resourced schools.

Kim is an art enthusiast and enjoys spending her spare time in museums, at the piano and writing in her notebook. With interests across design, technology and media, Kim is excited to spend the summer analyzing and visualizing Knight’s journalism grant data and take a critical look at the diversity and scope of its impact nationwide.
