Knight Foundation has been making grants to libraries for more than 50 years, but since 2014 we have focused increasingly on funding innovation in libraries and collaborations to help them adapt to the changing needs and behavior of people in the digital age.

    Since 2014, Knight has made $10.2 million in grants to more than 40 projects focused on libraries’ efforts to succeed in the digital age.
      <p>A&nbsp;<em></em><a href="http://www.knightfoundation.org/blogs/knightblog/2016/2/8/make-it-at-your-library/">maker kit program</a> turns libraries into places for content creation, not just consumption.&nbsp;With Knight support, <a href="http://makeitatyourlibrary.org/">Make it @ Your Library</a> has created Maker Kits that are largely technology-based, and partnered with the Illinois State Library to circulate those kits throughout the state.</p>
