Join us for these upcoming October events in Miami

We have a terrific lineup of events set for this month in Miami that are supported by Knight Foundation. I want to especially highlight the Knight Cities Challenge information session happening this Wednesday Oct. 14 from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. at The Idea Center at Miami Dade College. The challenge is offering a share of $5 million for ideas to make Miami, and the 25 other cities where Knight invests more successful. Join us for food, drinks and to share your ideas and get tips on your application.

October events include:

•  Oct. 13: Join me as I moderate a lunchtime panel on Miami’s New Urban Mobility as part of Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce’s ongoing Transforming Miami discussion series.

• Oct. 13: Startup Grind Miami hosts a talk by Jose Rasco, managing director of STRAAT and founder of Building.co and Juan Diego Calle, serial entrepreneur and chairman of STRAAT at BUILDING.co.

• Oct. 13: The New Tropic hosts its Leadership Series with Howard Herring, president and CEO of New World Symphony.

• Oct. 14, 21, 28: Live Ninja hosts #WaffleWednesday, its weekly tech and creatives morning meetup in Wynwood.

• Oct. 14: Knight hosts an information session on the Knight Cities Challenge at The Idea Center at Miami Dade College to share ideas and answer your questions.

• Oct. 15: Knight hosts its Meet KF Miami breakfast series for people who want to learn more about our work in Miami.

• Oct. 15: 500 Startups presents Supercharged Acquisition Through YouTube with Internet, mobile and digital marketing consultant Tommie Powers as part of its Miami Mentor Talks series at BUILDING.co.

• Oct. 16: The Arts & Business Council of Miami presents Breakfast with the Arts & Technology at Miami Dade College’s Chapman Center.

• Oct. 19, 26: Code for MIA hosts its weekly Civic Hack Night at The LAB Miami.

• Oct. 19, 26: Hacks Hackers Miami hosts OpenHack Miami at The LAB Miami.

• Oct. 21: The New Tropic hosts Caffeinated Conversations at Canvas, featuring Miami’s Confucius Institute and exploring Chinese business topics from proper etiquette development, to finance and more.

• Oct. 22: Refresh Miami presents its Citi FinTech Meetup: How Millennials Are Disrupting Wealth Management at BUILDING.co.

• Oct. 22: Design Thinking Miami hosts Design Thinking Crash Course! at Moonlighter.

• Oct. 23: Creative Mornings Miami presents student leader, Salma Abdelrahman at the YoungArts campus.

• Oct. 28: Creative Mornings Miami presents student leader, Salma Abdelrahman at the YoungArts campus.

• Oct. 26: Pioneers@MDC features Notes from Silicon Valley with Eliam Medina, a Miami entrepreneur who recently participated in the Y Combinator accelerator program, at The Idea Center at Miami Dade College.  

• Oct. 28: Accelerated Growth Partners presents Business Due Diligence as part of its AGP Angel Education Series, featuring a workshop led by Marco Giberti, founder of Vesuvio Ventures and Thomas ‘Tigre’ Wenrich, founder of Miami Venture Advising at the Kellogg School of Management’s Coral Gables campus.

• Oct. 28: Join the W3RTECH Campaign for its launch event.

• Oct. 28: The Idea Center at Miami Dade College hosts a special event with business leader, author and professor Robert Hacker who will talk about his new book, “Scaling Social Entrepreneurship.”
