Knight Foundation heads to Platform Summit in Atlanta

This post has been updated.

This weekend, Knight Foundation is headed to the third annual Platform Summit in Atlanta, from Oct. 2-4, as part of our support for diversity within the innovation economy.

The Platform Summit, being held at the Ray Charles Performing Arts Center at Morehouse College, is an initiative of the nonprofit organization Platform, which seeks to catalyze dialogue around increasing opportunity and involvement for underrepresented communities in technology and entrepreneurship.

We’ll be at the conference discussing current funding opportunities at Knight, including the Knight Prototype Fund, which is open for applications until Monday, Nov. 16, as well as the Knight Cities Challenge, which is open for submissions until Tuesday, Oct. 27. Additionally, we will be discussing how you can be a part of the conversation surrounding the Knight News Challenge on Data, which closed Wednesday with more than 1,000 applications.

The Platform Summit will offer a chance to hear from several leaders in business and tech, such as Jack Dorsey, co-founder of Twitter and founder of Square, and David Drummond; Google’s vice president of corporate development and chief legal officer; and Laura Weidman Powers, co-founder and CEO of Knight News Challenge winner CODE2040.

Several people from Knight’s network are also attending the summit, including Derick Pearson and author Felecia Hatcher, co-founders of Code Fever Miami and Black Tech Week; Evan M. Rose, founder of Ecruit; and Michael Hall, founder of Digital Grass.

Look for us on the floor of the expo at the Platform Summit and learn more about our efforts to promote technology and entrepreneurial diversity, as well as funding opportunities. See you in Atlanta.
