Sara Chaves – Knight Foundation

Sara Chaves joined Knight Foundation in February 2025 as a Program Associate, supporting the Community and National Initiatives team’s portfolio of grants and investments in Miami.

Previously, Sara was Associate Director of Development at Jackson Health Foundation, the fundraising arm of Miami’s largest public hospital system, Jackson Health. At the foundation, Sara managed the launch of Jackson’s inaugural giving day and community engagement campaign, “One Day for Jackson.”

Prior to her role at Jackson Health Foundation, Sara held key development positions at Miami Children’s Museum. Her experience spans donor relations, data-driven fundraising strategies, and event planning and management.

Sara holds a Bachelor of Arts in Government, with a minor in Theater & Performance Studies, from Georgetown University. She also completed the School for International Training’s International Honors Program in Human Rights, researching government initiatives to change values that contribute to violence against women in Nepal, Jordan, and Chile.

A Miami native, Sara is a graduate of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Miami program, where she currently serves on the Executive Planning Committee.
