If you ever wanted to know

…what it would be like to be an elf employed by Macy’s during the rush and push of the holidays season, then see the sharp-as-razorblades satire “Santaland Diaries” by David Sedaris. This off-kilter show for mature audiences (beware of foul language), produced by Zoetic Stage and adapted by Joe Mantello, stars the fabulous Carbonell Award winner Michael McKeever. McKeever seems to have been born for every role.

“Santaland Diaries” runs through Dec. 23 and puts the holiday shopping madness into perspective. For tickets and information, visit the Arsht Center.

The rain nixed “Big Night in Little Haiti” last month. Fortunately, the weather looks good this Friday, Dec. 16, which will be the last “Big Night…” event of the year at the center. Besides featuring arts and crafts for kids and delicious (but fattening) Haitian food and drinks, folksy, soul-filled Jan Sebon and Kazak International will perform live. Comparisons are dangerous, but Sebon is cut from the same magical-musical cloth as Tracy Chapman. In between sets, check out DJ Mack. In addition to the cultural activities and live performances, head over to the gallery for “Global Caribbean III, Haiti: Kingdom of this World” — a group exhibition curated by Giscard Bouchotte. The work I saw is lush, dreamy and evocative. For more information, visit http://www.bignightlittlehaiti.com/. Tickets: Free. Date: Friday, Dec. 16, 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Little Haiti Cultural Center Main Stage, 212 N.E. 59th Terrace, 305-960-296.

I had the chance to see Seraphic Fire perform last month at the All Saints Episcopal Church in Fort Lauderdale. The sold-out performance featured works by Mozart, Mendelssohn and the crowd favorite Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings in C Major, Op. 48. If you can get tickets, put Seraphic Fire on your list of things to do before the holidays. There are only four holiday performances left, featuring traditional carols and Gregorian chants. The final performances of the year are Thursday, Dec. 15, 7:30 p.m. at The Royal Poinciana Chapel, Palm Beach; Friday, Dec. 16, 7:30 p.m. at the Church by the Sea, Bal Harbour; Saturday, Dec. 17, 8 p.m. at the South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts CenterCutler Bay; and Tuesday, Dec. 20, 7:30 p.m. at the Sunshine Cathedral, Ft. Lauderdale.
