TEDxWomen: the role of women as powerful agents of change

What innovative solutions do women offer to today’s global challenges? The conversation continues this week at the third annual TEDxWomen. Hosted in Washington, D.C. by the Paley Center for Media, the conference is themed  The Space Between and seeks to. In six, 90-minute sessions, speakers and performers will explore the different ways women and men approach subjects or obstacles. As part of the programming, TEDx will broadcast a video highlighting the work of Caitria O’Neill and her start-up Recovers.org, which empowers communities to shape their recovery after natural disasters. The site is funded in part by the communities themselves, who pay Recovers an annual fee for software that efficiently organizes volunteers, donations and information. Knight Foundation also will sponsor a lunch panel on Dec. 1, moderated by Courtney Martin, author and strategist. The four panelists will explore how technology can be used to transform democracy. Panelists include: Lauren Bird, creative media coordinator and blogger at The Harry Potter Alliance; Keya Dannenbaum, founder and CEO of ElectNext; Marci Harris, co-founder and CEO of POPVOX; and Reshma Saujani, founder of Girls Who Code. TEDx will live-tweet the session using the hashtag #TEDXWomen. Knight Foundation supports TEDxWomen in helping to bring awareness, continue the conversations, and empower women as change agents across the globe.
