Random Acts of Culture™ at the San Jose Airport

By Randy Bobst-McKay, Symphony Silicon Valley

Valentine’s Day brought Carmen to the San Jose International Airport.  Nine Random Acts of Culture performances featured Symphony Silicon Valley’s concertmaster on violin and two singers from Opera San Jose bringing to life Bizet’s most familiar music.  The performances at various gates while passengers waited for their flights and at the baggage claim area had people cheering, singing along and a few following the singers from gate to gate (but quietly so as not to spoil the surprise).  One flight even cheered us as a good-luck talisman since their long-delayed plane finally arrived, right on cue, at the end of the performance.  Watch the video and see the fun for yourself!
