EPISODE 20: VETERANS IN JOURNALISM: THE UNIQUE VALUE AND CHALLENGES OF MILITARY VETS IN THE NEWSROOM

The media often covers wars, foreign policy and military issues — but these stories aren’t often told by reporters who have also served in the military. How do we encourage more vets to bring their valuable insight to jobs in media, and make newsrooms more aware of the barriers veterans face when breaking into the industry? On Episode 20 of “Informed and Engaged,” Knight Foundation’s LaSharah S. Bunting will speak with Zack Baddorf, executive director and co-founder of Military Veterans in Journalism, Thomas Brennan, executive director of The War Horse, and Priya Sridhar, political reporter for NBC 7, on the insights, barriers and value newsrooms gain when they hire military veterans.
