Knight Foundation’s Communities team seeks a detail-focused and curious individual who enjoys working in a collaborative environment to support and facilitate the program’s investments. ​     ​ 

The Communities program supports the development of engaged, inclusive and equitable communities toward a more effective democracy in the 26 cities where the Knight brothers owned and operated newspapers. As social investors, we spot and advance community trends, act as early adopters of ideas and support the individuals and spaces that shape our cities’ futures. 

You will report to Knight’s director/Miami. This is an in-office role based in our Miami, Florida headquarters. For more information on the Communities program visit https://knightfoundation.org/programs/communities/ 

Key responsibilities:  

  • ​​​Follow​ the process for reviewing, evaluating, and tracking grant proposals.​ 
  • ​​Collect information from grantees and complete checklist-based due diligence.​ 
  • ​​Support the grant evaluation work​, and assist other team members in processing grants, grant payments and required grant reports​.​ 
  • ​​Collaborate with the ​Communities ​team and other departments to track the grantmaking budget.​ 
  • ​​Research trends, data and issues as directed by program leadership and provide logical and well-written findings.​ 
  • ​​Track grantee progress on required reporting and drive follow-up on grantee matters​ to drive strategic outcomes​.​

  • ​​Excellent verbal and written communication skills.​ 
  • ​​Demonstrated ability to leverage resources to get things done.​ 
  • ​​Proficiency in researching and analyzing complex information. ​ 
  • ​​Good business judgment and relationship management skills.​ 
  • ​​Self-motivated, results-oriented, and agile.​ 
  • ​​Proficiency in database and contact management systems, such as Salesforce and FLUXX.​ 
  • ​​Digital literacy and project management expertise. ​ 
  • ​​Exceptional discernment, discretion, and ethics.​ 
  • ​​Ability to articulate the program strategy and a belief in Knight Foundation’s mission.  
  • ​Ability to work effectively and positively in a high-pressure team environment.​

Knight Foundation offers competitive pay and a generous benefits package and is an equal opportunity employer. Our hiring range for this role is $50,559 – $55,800.
