The Director, Community Impact Operations will serve as a strategic partner to the Vice President, Community Impact, to translate vision into action, strengthen cross-team coordination and drive programmatic excellence. The role demands a high degree of judgment and discernment; the ability to build strong relationships through communication, collaboration and trustworthiness; and the ability to make sense of complex, high quantity and sometimes contradictory information to solve problems.

Key Responsibilities Include:
Program Operations Support
- Lead the coordination of workflows, timelines and progress tracking across colleagues, grantees, projects and cities. • Maintain and refine systems for tracking grant status, reporting deadlines and deliverables in coordination with Grants Administration and legal. • Create dashboards, briefing materials, board updates and more that reflect strategy and showcase outcomes.
Grants and Compliance Coordination
- Support grantee due diligence, documentation and execution of grant agreements. • Monitor compliance, grant modifications and reporting requirements across the portfolio. • Ensure accurate and timely recordkeeping in alignment with foundation standards.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Act as liaison between Community Impact and internal teams including other program areas, Finance, Communications, Legal and Grants Administration. • Support planning of internal convenings, cross-city knowledge-sharing efforts and grantee engagements. • Support Communications efforts to elevate the Community Impact narrative.
Strategic Project Management
- Support the execution of strategic initiatives such as cross-city grant programs, investment pilots and ecosystem-building efforts. • Provide project management for internal initiatives including scoping, timeline development, and coordination. • Draft presentations, memos and documents to inform decisions and enhance program storytelling.
Things We Look for in a Successful Candidate:
- Progressive experience in supporting the operations of an organization such as philanthropy, civic engagement, nonprofit operations or related fields. • Proven ability to design and manage systems that strengthen grantmaking and program execution. • Experience working with cross-functional teams in complex organizations.

The hiring salary range for this role is $130,000–$160,000. Knight Foundation also offers a generous benefits package.
