Big news for ArtPlace – the national consortium, chaired in part by Knight Foundation’s VP/Arts Dennis Scholl, made Createquity’s list of Top 10 Arts Policy Stories in 2011. The collaboration of national foundations, the National Endowment for the Arts and various federal agencies was created in 2011 to accelerate creative placemaking across the US. Createquity notes that ArtPlace has already distributed $11.5 million in grants and recently drew over 2,000 responses for letters of inquiry, commenting that: “by spurring the creation of ArtPlace, Rocco [Landesman] has guaranteed that creative placemaking will be part of the lexicon for quite a while.”
