Summit County received a $250,000 award in December 2012 to partner with Code for America to create an interactive website on regional hiking, bicycling and water trails. On October 1, 2012, CfA selected Summit County as one of 10 partners across the country.

Each year, CfA connects forward-thinking cities and counties with the talent from the web industry to develop reusable civic technology. CfA will place three CfA fellows in Akron (Summit’s County seat) to develop a technology solution to connect residents and visitors to the vast regional trail system. Code fellows will be placed inside the county government, working alongside leaders and residents to engage them in solution development and the new skills to embrace technology when problems arise.
