Former British Prime Minister, Inventor of World Wide Web and Knight President discuss future of the Internet in developing world
How has the Web impacted the recent wave of revolutions sweeping the Middle East? What role will it play in the future of international development? Should Internet accessibility be considered a fundamental human right?
These are the kinds of questions Sir Tim Berners-Lee and former British Prime Minister Gordon Brown will be discussing with Knight Foundation President and CEO, Alberto Ibargüen, during a livestreamed panel about the ability of the Web to facilitate social and economic change in disadvantaged populations.
The talk will build on Berners-Lee’s creation of the World Wide Web Foundation, which received Knight support for its goal to maximize the potential of the Web as a resource for good, and will take place at the University of Geneva at 12:00pm EDT.
