The Girl Scouts of North East Ohio received a $50,000 award in June 2012 for their Girltopia program. The girls will work with community leaders to identify meaningful community projects and then design projects, and build networks and plans for successful implementation.
In April 2013, a panel will judge the ideas and award grants of $1,000, $500 and $250 to the top three project ideas. “It’s about teaching them how to be good stewards of their community, and how to use your voice for change,” program director Alanna Nicholas said.
