Knight Entrepreneurial Fellowships offer chance to participate in SIME MIA digital business conference
Demian Bellumio is founding partner of MIA Collective, COO of Senzari, a serial entrepreneur and an angel investor. Below, he writes about fellowship opportunities for SIME MIA, a digital business conference supported by Knight Foundation.
Ten startups will have the chance to win two golden tickets each to SIME MIA, a highly anticipated technology conference that will be held Dec. 3-4 at New World Center in Miami Beach.
The winners, who will be designated as Knight Entrepreneurial Fellows, will also receive a one-on-one coaching session with an international investor. This is a great opportunity for startups to deliver pitches and receive the mentoring they need to reach the next step in their trajectory towards success. Related Links

SIME’s Ola Ahlvarsson, MIA Collective and Knight Foundation are creating a conference unique in its depth of discussion and ability to keep all attendees on their feet.
SIME MIA will not be a typical digital conference. The sounds of a live symphony and people offering free hugs will greet attendees, who will receive a glass of champagne and a strawberry as the event kicks off at 9 in the morning. Whether one is a hugger or a fan of classical music, what stands out about this conference is the top-notch list of speakers from Europe, the United States and Latin America who will be visiting Miami, many of them for the first time.
SIME MIA’s newly added list of speakers include: Caterina Fake, CEO of Findery, co-founder of Flickr and Hunch, and founding partner of Founder Collective; Navin Thukkaram, former founder and COO of Qwiki, which Yahoo! bought in July 2013; Andy Kleinman, chief business officer at Scopely; Francisco Alvarez, founder and partner of Riverwood Capital Partners; Adriana Cisneros, CEO and vice chairman of Cisneros; and Isaac Lee, CEO of Fusion and president of news for Univision.Panel discussions will be led by industry leaders, such as Fon’s Martin Varsavsky and Gigaom’s Paul Walborsky, and aimed at connecting the audience with the speakers. Knight Foundation Entrepreneurial Fellows will have the opportunity to mingle with these industry leaders, while learning about the latest trends that are at the forefront of the digital industry on a global scale. SIME MIA will cover topics such as big data, venture capital and artificial intelligence, all of which are rarely explored in other conferences in South Florida.
To become a Knight Foundation Entrepreneurial Fellow, create a video of 60 seconds or less to convince the judges that you deserve to attend SIME MIA more than anyone else. Upload the finished product to Instagram, Facebook and/or YouTube by 11:59 p.m. on Nov. 20, 2013.
You must mention/tag @simemiami and @knightfdn and share it as much as possible on all social media platforms using #SIMEMIA. The 10 finalists will receive two tickets each to SIME MIA. Winners will be announced on Nov. 27.
