Miami Lyric Opera: 2010 Season Preview
As its 2009 season comes to an end, Raffaele Cardone, general and artistic of the Miami Lyric Opera, checks in with a preview and some musings on the company’s 2010 season…
We are very exited about the opening of the season with Don Pasquale of Donizetti having as Title role one of the best interpreter as such in Stefano de Peppo an extraordinary italian Bass/baritone specialized in Comic opera (opera buffa) including mayor roles in Mozart’s. The cast will include a young Miamian soprano that makes her debut with MLO and the principal role (Norina)
Besides La Boheme and La Traviata, we are also exited to bring a new opera for our repertoire and absent for decades in Miami, that is L’Amico Fritz from Mascagni. This opera is well remembered by its beautiful Duet of the Cherries and of course the famous “Intermezzo” not to say, the suit arias from the soprano “Son pochi fiori”and the tenor’s “Ed anche Beppe amo’ ” among other.
We realize that 2010 will be a difficult year and our success much will depend on our public and Institutional help to support financially this beautiful venture in its sixt season for MLO.
