Second Saturday Quick Picks
It’s Second Saturday again, Here’s some of what you have to look forward to: Dorsch Gallery opens yet again this month with three solo showings. Venting by Miami’s own Richard Haden continues his exploration into the world of hyper-realist sculpture, carving and painting wood to resemble realistic discarded pieces of metallic trash and debris. Recorded Eyesight by John Sanchez offers up oil paintings of subjects such as fairs, trucks parked, each with a skillful rendering of light. And lastly, there’ll be new paintings by Jenny Brillhart emphasizing light, surface, and structure.
Be sure to head over to the design district to check out the area’s newest artist-run alternative art space, Dimensions Variable, run by local artists Cristina Lei Rodriguez, Leyden Rodriguez-Casanova, Frances Trombly and Wendy Wischer out of their studio on 171 NE 38th Street. The current exhibition is titled Buildup has artists Tom Scicluna and Shane Aslan Selzer participating in an installation that has the two independently collaborating to gradually fill up the space with work in an exhibition that will evolve throughout the month. David Castillo Gallery is hosting a solo show by local artist Adler Guerrier, the artist’s first at the gallery, and his first in Miami in over four years with multimedia works in the form of drawings, sculpture, photography, and video.
