Wynwood Walls
Every year, the presence of Art Basel at the Miami Beach Convention Center attracts to town a slew of art luminaries who make use of the week-long festivities to present exceptional exhibitions and one-of-a-kind works, the likes of which this city hardly ever sees.
This year, once again, the New York-based Deitch Projects art space brings to us one of these unique projects in the form of an exhibition titled The Wynwood Walls.
With Wynwood Walls, Deitch has teamed up with developer Tony Goldman for an outdoor mural project featuring 15 internationally respected artists on 12 primed walls located on scattered Goldman properties throughout the neighborhood.
You can find these murals from NW 22nd street all the way up to 28th and between NW 2nd and 5th avenue, with the main collection of murals located on NW 25th Street and NW 2nd Avenue, next door to Joey’s Italian Café. The plans are to make these murals permanent fixtures in the neighborhood, and there is also talk of 15 more murals to be commissioned within the next two years.
If you haven’t checked it out already, here’s what you can expect to see.
