Elizabeth Berenguer joins the Knight Foundation’s 2023 internship program with the Grants Administration team, reporting to Hallie Atkins.

Elizabeth is pursuing her Bachelor of Arts in Cultural Anthropology and Art History at Duke University, where she is an Angier B. Duke Scholar. She also works part-time as an Archival Processing Student Assistant at the Rubenstein Library. She was awarded a 2023 Political Engagement Project Fellowship at Duke and was awarded the Hart Service Opportunities in Leadership Fellowship in 2021.

She is interested in working to better the livelihoods of immigrants, language minorities, and those living in low and moderate-income communities. In 2021, Elizabeth was appointed to the Miami-Dade County Community Action Board where she collaborates with commissioners to oversee the implementation of Community Services Block Grant programs. From 2021-2022, she worked for the City of Durham’s Participatory Budgeting program to help allocate $1 million to local non-profits providing services to underserved neighborhoods.
