JoAnn Sciarrino is the Knight Chair in Digital Advertising and Marketing at University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill, in the School of Media and Journalism. Sciarrino, an advertising and marketing executive with nearly 30 years of experience, is an expert in brand science, digital media and brand attachment. She has published her research on these topics in a variety of academic and practitioner publications. She co-authored the forthcoming textbook and trade primer to be published by Wiley in 2018, “The Strategic Digital Media Entrepreneur.”

Sciarrino is regularly invited to speak at national and international marketing, digital marketing and content marketing conferences. She teaches Digital Marketing and Market Intelligence to UNC undergraduates and MBAs, and was the recipient of the UNC 2016 Tanner Award for excellence in teaching.

Prior to joining the University of North Carolina in 2012, Sciarrino was executive vice president of BBDO North America, where she advised global clients for more than a decade in brand science drawn from research, analytics and modeling, most notably working with AT&T, Starbucks, FedEx and Hyatt.
