Karina Maciel
About
Karina Maciel (she/her) joins the Knight Foundation’s as a 2024 DEI Intern, reporting to Roshell Rinkins.
Karina is a rising senior at Amherst College, majoring in American Studies with a concentration in Education. At Amherst, she is a member of the Asian Pacific American Action Committee, an organization dedicated to A/P/A advocacy and the implementation of an AAPI studies program on the campus. Karina also participates in La Causa, Amherst’s Latinx affinity group, and interned at the college’s Center for Restorative Practices (CRP). Previously, she has worked as a policy intern at the National Coalition on School Diversity and has also conducted archival research alongside professors at Amherst. She is deeply
passionate about DEI work, especially educational equity, and integrating such work into all aspects of research, analysis, and policy recommendations.
In her free time, Karina enjoys reading, spending time with friends, and going to the beach to swim with her younger siblings.
