Miami sits at the nexus of numerous industries and draws creative talent as well as business leaders from around the globe. With a burgeoning innovation community, Miami is becoming a home base for emerging businesses across the Americas and a perfect backdrop for a conference on cutting-edge trends and lessons in startup investing for new and experienced investors.
As the first conference dedicated to startup investing across the Americas, AngelSummit Americas will convene more than 300 startup influencers, investors, and industry and community leaders to discuss ways to unleash the potential of startup investors in Miami, the United States, and across the world. Speakers include Dave McClure of 500 Startups; Marc Nager of Techstars; Alex Mittal of FundersClub, and John McIntire of Open English. Community partners include Accelerated Growth Partners Miami, CREATE Miami and Endeavor Miami, as well as global partners Techstars, 500 Startups, the Global Accelerator Network, the Latino Startup Alliance and Startupbootcamp.
“Miami’s startup scene is experiencing unprecedented growth, but there are still gaps to be filled. To continue the momentum we need more investors to focus their interest on the startup community,” said Matt Haggman, Miami program director for Knight Foundation. “The AngelSummit will connect local investors with the best startup investment practices, and inspire them to invest in Miami’s emerging entrepreneurs and our city’s future.”
“The most innovative, transformational ideas come from a diverse community of founders and investors,” said Leslie Jump, founder and CEO of Startup Angels. “What Knight Foundation and our community partners are doing to transform Miami’s tech scene is extraordinary; we hope to complement their efforts by serving the needs of the growing investor community and creating positive impact in the Miami startup scene.”
Startup Angels is also partnering with eMerge Americas; now in its third year, the global technology conference attracts thousands of participants from the United States and Latin America. AngelSummit participants will have the opportunity to attend eMerge Americas, scheduled for April 18-19, while eMerge participants will be able to attend AngelSummit Americas and interact with startup investing and industry leaders from across the continent.
“eMerge Americas was created to showcase our growing, innovative community in Miami. After three years, we have started to see talented founders and innovators move to Miami, contributing to a dynamic and extremely diverse tech community,” said Manny Medina, founder and chairman of eMerge Americas.
Startup Angels’ mission is to increase the number of startup investors across the U.S. and around the world. Entering its third year, the organization combines its conferences and workshops with original storytelling, in-depth research, and tools and technology to help the startup investors of tomorrow.
