The Community Foundation of Grand Forks, East Grand Forks and Region has received a $40,000, one-year grant for a Community Leadership Development Program from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.
The grant provides funding for developing and implementing a leadership database which will link potential members to area nonprofit board of directors. The Community Foundation will serve as an area resource for nonprofit organizations seeking qualified and trained board leadership and for individuals who have the skills and interest in serving the community through nonprofit board service.
“This leadership project will help the Grand Forks region develop one of its most valuable assets – the people who want to serve the community by joining nonprofit boards. This is the kind of community-wide change both the Community Foundation and Knight Foundation seek to encourage,” said Anne Corriston, Knight Foundation’s program director for Grand Forks.
The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation promotes journalism excellence worldwide and invests in the vitality of the communities where the Knight brothers owned newspapers. To learn more, visit www.knightfdn.org.
