Knight Foundation Launches Community Blog

Local residents can participate in a conversation on improving life in Wichita

WICHITA, KS (Sept. 3, 2009) – The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation is starting a dialogue with citizens in south central Kansas on its new Wichita blog. Readers can learn more about Knight’s investments in Wichita and help identify transformational opportunities for future funding by participating in the conversation.

“Knight Foundation is committed to using digital technology to help citizens become more informed,” said Anne Corriston, program director for Wichita. “Starting a local blog about what we’re investing in and inviting comments is a new evolution on our website. I hope it can help us become more informed about what matters to our residents.”

Corriston will update the blog weekly with news and information specifically about current Wichita grantees, milestones they achieve and how their work is contributing to the quality of life locally. The blog will also announce new grants after they are approved by Knight Foundation’s Board of Trustees, along with web links to information about other Knight Foundation challenges and competitions open to Wichita area organizations and individuals.

“Residents will be able to find any and all information about Knight Foundation’s work in Wichita in one place,” Corriston said. “Through the blog, I would also love to hear back from people who are working on big ideas to make Wichita a better community to live, work and play.”
