MIAMI — Juan J. Martinez has been named Vice President/Chief Financial Officer of the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.
The move reflects Martinez’s increasing responsibility and performance in the oversight of accounting and investment and service as board treasurer.
Martinez joined the foundation in May 2002 as controller and was promoted to vice president of accounting and treasurer in June 2004. He has served as vice president of finance since March 2005 while continuing his duties as treasurer.
Martinez is a former manager of financial planning for Telemundo Group Inc. Prior to that, he had a private practice providing financial consulting services for private companies and individuals while co-owner of M Entertainment Enterprises, a film production company. He began his career with Arthur Andersen, leaving the firm as a senior auditor.
Martinez joins President Alberto Ibargüen, Vice President/Journalism Program Eric Newton, Vice President/Communities Program Mike Maidenberg, Vice President/National and New Programs Paula L. Ellis, Vice President/Chief Administrative Officer Belinda Turner Lawrence and Vice President/Communications and Secretary Larry Meyer in forming an Executive Committee that direct the work of the foundation.
