Miami-Dade College, Tel Aviv University sign agreement

By Sergio Carmona

Although Miami-Dade College and Tel Aviv University in Israel are located several thousands of miles apart from each other, both schools recently signed what is considered a “historic” knowledge sharing agreement.

The agreement, between Tel Aviv University’s Entrepreneurship Center (StarTau) and The Idea Center at Miami-Dade College (MDC), will help enhance Miami’s entrepreneurship ecosystem and link Israel’s high-tech and start-up communities to resources and people in Miami. There are other agreements between Florida and Israeli schools but nothing in the high-tech innovation realm, according to the Consulate General of Israel to Florida and Puerto Rico.

“We are honored to help link Miami with one of the world’s top high-tech communities,” said Leandro Finol, executive director for MDC’s Idea Center. “It’s a win-win and we’re very happy to make this happen.”
