GRANT DESCRIPTION

To support the Detroit Area Pre-College Engineering Program (DAPCEP) READY program, an initiative which provides immersion experiences in technology, physical science and engineering to African American male students in Detroit City Public Schools and promotes future science and engineering success.

ASSESMENT PURPOSE & APPROACH

Key Questions

• What metrics and data collection tools can DAPCEP use to measure social skill growth of mentored students?

• How can DAPCEP strengthen its ongoing evaluation strategy and impact measurement systems?

Approach: The assessment partner will work with DAPCEP to review its existing evaluation tools and identify opportunities to strengthen its approach. After reviewing best practice tools used to assess mentorship outcomes, the assessment partner will suggest ways to strengthen DAPCEP’s current evaluation systems.

Project Findings

The project launched in January 2011 and is scheduled to generate recommendations by June 2011.
