As the fourth season of Downton Abbey comes to a close, fans can hang on just a little longer to the feeling, atmosphere and style of this turn-of-the-century period drama with the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art’s Music and Museum series featuring music from the Downton Abbey era. Two performances on March 4th at 12 p.m. and 6 p.m. will present compositions by English composers Rebecca Clarke, William Walton and Edward Elgar. Tickets for museum members are free for both concerts; the abbreviated (40-minute) noon concert is $5 for non-members, and the 6 p.m. concert is $10.

The musicians for this performance are founding members of the Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival in Burlington, Vt. Violinist Kevin Lawrence, violist Sheila Browne, cellist Alexander Ezerman and pianist Dmitri Shteinberg will play Elgar’s “La Capricieuse, Op. 17,” Clarke’s “Viola Sonata” and Walton’s “Piano Quartet in D minor.” The compositions date from the turn of the 20th century, the setting for PBS hit show Downton Abbey, which is considered a Golden Age of English music.

Starting at 11:30 a.m., general seating will be available in the fourth-floor gallery for the noon concert, and doors for the 6 p.m. concert open at 5:30 p.m. A cash bar will be available for the evening concert. Music and Museum attendees who visit e2 emeril’s eatery before or after the 6 p.m. concert can enjoy an exclusive Three-for-$30 prix fixe menu.
