An intimate evening at Inkub8 with Doug Varone and Dancers
On Tuesday, May 10 at 8 p.m. join the team at Inkub8 for an intimate evening of fundraising and an open-studio performance of “Stripped: No Lights/No Costumes,” a work in progress by the acclaimed contemporary dance company Doug Varone and Dancers. The performance will be scored with live music from Leon Foster Thomas. Doug Varone and Dancers is known for its expansive vision, versatility and technical prowess, and Varone’s kinetically thrilling dance style offers bursts of movement on stage. If you can’t make this special performance at Inkub8, as seating is limited, you can still witness the kinetic power of Doug Varone and Dancers next week, on Saturday, May 14 at 8 p.m., at the brand new South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center. The program will feature three master works from the company’s repertoire, including “Lux,” with music by Philip Glass, excerpts from “Chapters from a Broken Novel,” Varone’s latest work influenced by quotes from books or movies, and “Boats Leaving,” an intensely personal exploration of relationships and community. The performance is set to a live musical accompaniment by the Coral Reef Senior High School Orchestra (directed by Alan Hudson) and Chorus (directed by John Rose).
