Blumenthal’s Open Mic Night
Another Blumenthal Performing Arts’ Open Mic Night is just around the corner, taking place July 18th at 7:30 p.m. in the McGlohon Theater. Open Mic is part of the Whirl initiative to bring local artists to Blumenthal’s stages and encourage greater participation in the performing arts. Open Mic Nights are free and open to performers and spectators of all ages and abilities; they feature everything from singers and musicians to dancers and poets.
Due to the popularity of these events, Blumenthal has started a lottery system to select performers for 20 slots. Performers are drawn at random from the entries. To submit your info, email [email protected] with your name, performance genre and current city of residence. All performers should meet the following guidelines:
- Performances must be no longer than five minutes
- Performances must be appropriate for a general audience—inclusive of very young children
- Performances must stay within the stage dimensions: 33′ wide x 18′ deep
- Blumenthal will provide: up to five microphones, CD player, iPod connection, piano, DI box for instrument amplification (1/4″ plug), chairs and stools
- Each performer and group must set up the stage for their act within 90 seconds and clear the stage of their properties within the same amount of time
Don’t miss this great opportunity to check out Charlotte’s local talent. Audience seating is on a first-come, first-served basis, so get there early to select optimal seating.
