Charlotte Dance Festival.

The 2014 Festival in the Park is fast approaching in September. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Festival bringing good music, great art and enjoyable times to Charlotteans at Freedom Park. One of the main goals of the Festival is to promote and stimulate interest in the arts – performing as well as visual. The Charlotte Dance Festival will be partnering with the Festival in the Park to provide dance performances.

The Charlotte Dance Festival just announced a call for entries to perform at the Festival on September 20th and 21st. Professional dancers and youth performers (18 and under) are both encouraged to apply, but there will be separate stage venues accordingly. The main stage performances are from 3 – 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 20th, and the youth talent stage will feature dance from 1 – 2:30 p.m., 5 – 6:30 p.m. on the 20th and 1 – 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 21st. New applicants may be asked to provide a video of works for approval. The application deadline is August 15th, and applications can be submitted online. For questions, e-mail [email protected].

With over 85,000 visitors to Festival in the Park, this is a wonderful opportunity to showcase your talent or dance company. Festival in the Park has been named one of the Southeast Tourism Society’s Top 20 events, and it was a Where It’s At Best of 2013 Winner.
