Coral Gables Art Cinema hosts South Florida premiere of “Cracks”

Cracks,” the debut film by Jordan Scott, daughter of legendary director Ridley Scott, will premiere at the Coral Gables Art Cinema on Friday, June 10 as part of the Out in the Tropics Festival presented by FUNDarte.

Crushes, or “cracks” in British slang, and jealousies are the themes that permeate this film, which was an official selection of the Toronto International and London BFI Film Festivals. The film is set in a ’30s-era isolated, English all-girls boarding school on the eve of WWII. It stars “Bond girl” Eva Green as “Miss G,” a glamorous teacher and coach who is idolized by the student diving team. The film evokes a by-gone era, as well as the very real erotic and emotional tensions between young women of any decade.

The opening night special event takes place on Friday, June 10, and it includes a reception with food courtesy of John Martin’s Irish Pub & Restaurant, a specialty bar of British mixed drinks courtesy of Bacardi and live music, too. Special ticket prices for this event are $15 general admission and can be purchased in advance online with a $1.50 surcharge for the 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. shows. Tickets can also be purchased in-person at the Cinema box office during film screening hours or on opening night without a surcharge.

Tickets for members of the Cinema are just $8 and can be purchased in advance via phone by calling the office at 786-472-2249, Monday to Friday from (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.), in-person at the Cinema box office during film screening hours and on opening night (no service charges).
