Dance in Public Places heads to the mall
For the month of February, Philadelphians have had the opportunity to see dance happen, right where they shop, eat and work! How? Dance in Public Places, a program by Dance/USA Philadelphia (Dance/UP), is taking dance to the streets…ok well… the mall actually… In it’s last week, don’t miss your chance to see dance happen, dance being made, dance being shared.
37 dance companies from the Greater Philadelphia region transform a retail space on the 2nd level of The Gallery at Market East with movement. The public can view their live dance rehearsals 10:30am-6:00pm Monday through Saturday until March 1, 2014.
Catch hip-hop company Illstyle and Peace Productions and Bharatanatyam dance by Three Aksha Dance Company. Enjoy tap by Tap Team Two and Company, The Lady Hoofers, and the Jazz Tap Quartet. See Flamenco by Pasion y Arte and Appalachian clogging by Fiddlekicks. Watch Kùlú Mèlé African Dance & Drum Ensemble rehearse to live drumming! Philadelphia favorites Balletx, Group Motion, Leah Stein Dance Company, and Danse4Nia Repertory Ensemble are among the contemporary dance companies that will fill the space with new work and new ideas; plus so much more.
