Detroit house guests become collaborators on new album
There are artist residencies, and then there is this idea out of Detroit: Artists-Musicians Nicola Kuperus and Adam Lee Miller, the couple behind the electro band ADULT., are inviting musicians from around the country into their home to collaborate on an album.
Starting this month, the selected musicians will get to know the city, have a public performance when possible, and live with Kuperus and Miller in their downtown home as they create pieces that reflect the spirit of Detroit. The album will be released as “Detroit House Guests” by Ghostly International in late 2015 or early 2016.
The pair, who have lived in Downtown Detroit for 20-plus years, won a Knight Arts Challenge grant for the project. You can hear about who’s participating in the residency and what they plan to do in the video above.
