Fisher Foundation provides matching funds for two Detroit projects
Mosaic Youth Theater is a Detroit Knight Arts Challenge winner
After a week celebrating our first Detroit Knight Arts Challenge winners, we’re excited to share more good news: the Max M. & Marjorie S. Fisher Foundation is providing matching support for two projects.
With its focus on strengthening and empowering families, the Fisher Foundation will provide a total of $50,000 for arts education projects lead by the Grandmont Rosedale Development Corporation, which will offer a free after school program, and Mosaic Youth Theatre, which will pilot a new program that integrates the arts into every element of an elementary school’s curriculum.
Excited by the challenge’s possibilities, the Fisher Foundation approached Knight to get involved. Their next generation council was engaged in the process, going through the applications to make a decision on which projects to support.
As a part of the challenge, all winners have to match Knight’s commitment. It’s the foundation’s way of making sure that both the organizers and local donors have a stake in their success.
As Jane F. Sherman, chair of the Fisher Foundation’s board, said: “We hope others in the community will be inspired by our fabulous Detroit arts educators and help to fulfill the many matching opportunities available to strengthen arts programming throughout the city.”
We do too!
