Imagine 2025: Share the Vision
Reserve your seat now for “Imagine 2025: Share the Vision,” a creative and interactive arts event to debate, dream and envision the future of the cultural sector in Charlotte. Sponsored by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation and presented by the Arts & Science Council, “Imagine 2025” will be held on Tuesday, September 23 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Booth Playhouse at Blumenthal Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $25.
At this event, the ASC will release the results of the community’s cultural vision plan, “Imagine 2025: A Vision for Charlotte-Mecklenburg’s 21st Century Cultural Development.” This plan provides a vision of how the cultural sector can contribute to the region’s vitality through building community, quality pre-K-12 education, lifelong learning, and program relevance. Participants will also have the opportunity to debate the issues around supporting the cultural sector in the future – a highly relevant and hot topic currently given the recent release of the Cultural Life Task Force’s report.
The event will also feature presentations about the challenges and opportunities facing Charlotte-Mecklenburg’s cultural sector. Presenters include national leaders Dennis Scholl, Knight Foundation vice president for arts, and Aaron Dworkin, founder Sphinx Organization and a member of President Obama’s National Council on the Arts. Eight additional speakers from the fields of arts, education, data, energy, design and health services will also present. The 2014 ASC McColl Award winner Carlos Cruz will perform at “Imagine 2025” amongst other local artists.
