It’s a “Mix Tape” kind of world again

I remember the antiquated days of making mix tapes from my ghetto blaster. “Wild Boys” by Duran Duran was always in that mix. Last week, Mad Cat Theatre Company premiered “Mixtape 2: Ummagumma Forza Zuma,” which is a collection of new works by artists Jessica Farr, Elena Maria Garcia, Theo Reyna, Deborah L. Sherman, Andres Solorzano, Paul Tei and Kristina Wong.

“Matt in a fish bowl.”

According to the ether, ““Mixtape 2: Ummagumma Forza Zuma” is about the daunting, herculean task of personal change that requires a super amount of mojo to get one through the process. Sometimes we don’t have enough, but sometimes the attempt is sufficient to effect monumental metamorphosis.

In the spirit of the mix tape, “Mixtape 2” also features new films by Molly Gandour, George Schiavone and Matt Corey, Karelle Levy and Michael Landsberg, Wet Sock Ensemble (Erik Fabregat, Ralph de la Portilla and Ted Chambers), and Darin Gray of the band On Fillmore.

The ensemble cast features Carey Brianna Hart and Mad Cat company members Troy Davidson, Jessica Farr, Joe Kimble, Noah Levine and Erin Joy Schmidt with Theo Reyna as Syd. “Mixtape 2” runs from January 3-19.

“Mixtape 2: Ummagumma Forza Zuma” runs through January 19. General admission tickets are $30; $15 for students with valid ID. Tickets may be purchased online at www.madcattheatre.org or https://web.ovationtix.com/trs/pr/929859. Tickets may also be purchased by calling OvationTix at 866-811-4111.
