Jazz at the Bechtler now featuring two concerts

Due to overwhelming attendance at the Bechtler’s jazz concerts, the museum has expanded this series to include two full concerts. Now audiences can choose between one of two shows: a 6-7:30 p.m. concert and a 8:15-9:30 p.m. concert. Kicking off this new option, the Ziad Jazz Quartet will be performing Latin jazz.

Latin jazz fuses Afro-Caribbean and Pan-American rhythms with the virtuosity of jazz.  The Quartet will pay tribute to Tito Puente, who revolutionized the genre, by playing “Flight to Jordan,” as well as music by Latin jazz greats Chick Corea, Sergio Mendes, Chucho Valdez and Paquito D’Rivera. With Noel Freidline on piano, Ron Brendle on acoustic bass, Rick Dior on drums, Ziad Rabie on the saxophone and Mike Hackett playing trumpet, songs like “On Fire” and “Armando’s Rhumba” are sure to be a hit among concertgoers.
